Williamson is District Outstanding Clubwoman Volunteer.
Margie Williamson of Pecos , was recently named Outstanding Clubwoman Volunteer of the Western District of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs.
Mrs. Williamson was entered in the competition after being selected by her local club , The Modern Study Club of Pecos , as their Outstanding Clubwoman Volunteer for the year 2000 , earlier in 2001.
The honoree's resume contained brief facts concerning Mrs. Williamson's graduation from Crosbyton High School , her College years , her husband , four sons and four grandchildren.
Club activities during the past year allowed the most points of credit.The resume continued telling some of the clubwoman's activities.Locally , Mrs. Williamson attends all club functions , has served as hostess several times and is a loyal participant in all club activities.She serves faithfully as Club Reporter and as local , district and state scholarship chairman for the Modern Study Club , and serves on the Music , Art and Community Improvement Project committees.Her leadership qualities included knowledge of Federation , organization skills , loyalty in attendance and/or support of local , district and state.She also encourages other members in federation activities , often does special centerpieces and decorations for special events , cooperates with other clubmembers regarding club activities , has enthusiasm in projects , club membership and inviting new members.The club won a Western District Award for the Americanism Department Program the chaired , Unique and Little Known Fact About United States Presidents..
In the previous club participation of her resume Mrs. , Williamson was noted for faithful attendance since becoming a member of The Modern Study Club in 1974 , with two years served in Ralls prior to the family's move to Pecos.The honoree has served as President , interim vice-president , secretary , interim reporter and numerous years as elected reporter , as well as department chairman for the Home Life , Art , Americanism , and Texas Heritage departments.She has served on all twelve standing committees , numerous membership drives and has initiated many individual contacts.

Mrs. Williamson is a member of the Reeves-Loving Counties Fall Fair Board , has served eight years , and currently as interim minister's wife , has taught Bible classes for over thirty years and served as secretarial office coordinator for Vacation Bible School for numerous years.She also picks up children for VBS.
She has also been active in the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce , Friends of the West of the Pecos Museum and Friends of the Reeves County Library.The artist helped designed the Pecos Rodeo Grounds marker , Home of the World's First Rodeo , and gave time and money to photograph at the Pecos Rodeo for picture post cards printed and made available for sale at the West of the Pecos Museum as a fund raiser.
Active in scouting , Mrs. Williamson chaired Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquets/Pinecar Derbys for numerous years.She walked with four sons though all ranks of Cub Scouts , Webelos and Boy Scouts , seeing each receive their Eagle Rank Scout awards.The young men also received the highest achievement available to Cub Scout , The Arrow of Light , and the elite honor of becoming members of the Order of the Arrow , a camping Honor Society of Boy Scouting.
The award recipient did publicity locally , and for the Buffalo Trails Council , receiving the Spank Plug Award for her support.She continues in this area from the time , photographing and writing the press coverage , especially for Eagle Scout Courts of Honor.
Mrs. Williamson is active in the Church of Christ and has handled various publicity for numerous activities for over 30 years.She works on , and chairs for one month each year , the ladies benevolence committee and has worked on the Greeting Card Committee for many years.The Larry West We Care Campaign for Christ was another one of her activities , as well as serving as a crafts teacher and assistant at the White River Youth Camp , for several years.She was sponsor for Youth Outreach Activities , provides various supports for the Lubbock Children's Home , and helped with transportation for youth attending church camp.
She served as president of the Pecos Federation of Women's Clubs.She was president and secretary in Austin Elementary Parent Teachers Association , where as president , she led that organization to receive a state PTA award , as well as to receive a state award from The Beautify Texas Council , presented by the Governor of Texas at a state dinner in Austin where Mrs. Williamson accepted the award.
The honoree served as president , secretary and reporter for the Reeves County Young Homemakers Organization , which function under the Texas Education Agency , and was chosen their Outstanding Homemaker.
She presented art demonstrations at elementary and high schools and community clubs.Through the years she has performed as vocalist with her family group band , and in later years with her husband , for civic organizations , senior citizens centers and jam sessions and jamborees throughout the areas.Their family has provided the entertainment for the Western District Spring Convention of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs.
Mrs. Williamson has served as photographer for Western District since 1994 and has brought Western District of TFWC into focus in The Texas Clubwoman magazine with publicity for over ten years.She enjoys participating in the Arts and Crafts Show held in conjunction with the Spring Convention of the Western District and has received numerous awards , including 3 Best of Division and 4 Best of Show Awards.She has chaired the decoration committee for several Western District Fall Board Meetings.
The artist has won first place at state in the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs Art Competition at least eleven times , through the years , with painting and photography , some of which advanced to national competition.She won third place nationally in 1992 with a watercolor landscape and was the recipient of the Bright of America/Lincoln House Certificate of Award that same year.Margie , and her husband , Tommy , resides in Pecos.She has worked as a legal secretary , church secretary and is currently a substitute teacher in the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District.He is retired form Galbraith Steel and Supply Company of Lubbock and Blish-Mize Southwest of Atchison , Kansas.
