NEWPORT - Margaret Lauric Salitrik,
89, of Newport, RI, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA (Lawrenceville), died peacefully at St. Clare Home on Sunday, April 25, 2010. Mrs. Salitrik was the wife of the late Joseph F. Lauric and the late Stephen Salitrik. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Magdalena (Vrtar) Bobnar. Margaret attended St. Mary Assumption Grade School in Lawrenceville and Bellefield Girls Vocational School in Oakland and graduated in 1939 as Valedictorian. During WWII Margaret worked at the H.J. Heinz Company assembling gliders for the military. She also worked as a seamstress with her husband Joseph who was a tailor for Brooks Brothers. In 1965 Margaret attended Alvernia School of Practical Nursing and worked for the VA Hospital in Aspinwall until she retired in 1984. Margaret was a member of the KSKJ Slovenian Fraternal Association and the Duquesne University Pink Geranium Club. She also was a President of the Christian Mothers of St. Mary Assumption Parish. Margaret loved to visit her 3 daughters for all occasions. She also loved to travel, play bingo and socialize with her friends. Margaret was a very strong and happy individual who got along with everyone. Her family and friends will miss her kindness and beautiful smile.
