Murrindindi Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Margaret Abbey said that works are already underway by the new operators, by agreement with Council.
"Under the new operators we will see the progressive installation over the next two months of four new family cabins, four new studio units and a new park office and manager's dwelling. Works will also be carried out to create a new access road, visitor's carpark, improved landscaping and the installation of boom entry and exit gates. "In total $1.3 million will be invested by the new operators in improved infrastructure and facilities in the Park over the first 10 years of the lease," said Ms Abbey "Importantly, the new operators have undertaken to engage local trades people, wherever possible, to carry out the works, which includes local builders, electricians, plumbers and plant operators. "Works are also currently being undertaken by Council to renew the bridge access into the caravan park as part of our annual capital works renewal program," added Ms Abbey. "A successful working bee was held in April involving council officers working together with the permanent and annual residents to remove accumulated materials and debris, greatly improving resident amenity, safety around dwellings and the general appearance of the Park," said Ms Abbey

Murrindindi Shire Council CEO Margaret Abbey said that passing the audit was a significant achievement. "The audit process is quite rigorous and involved us answering many questions and providing evidence to support our planning processes. "Our Municipal Emergency Management Plan was put together through the co-operative efforts of the Murrindindi Shire Council and Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Emergency Management Planning Committee with assistance from the Victoria State Emergency Service North East Regional Headquarters and recognises the previous planning activities of the municipal area. "Our MEMP adopts a flexible 'all hazards' approach", said Ms Abbey.
