Marcos Rafael Lamothe-Argumedo was born 25 April, 1932, in México City.He received his BSc, Msc and PhD from the Facultad de Ciencias, UNAM.He was appointed as an investigator in the Laboratorio de Helmintología in 1960, and today, he still is active in that position.Dr Lamothe-Argumedo is the current Curator of the Colección Nacional de Helmintos, IBUNAM.His
research includes studies on the taxonomy and systematics of helminths, with special focus on the Monogenea
has also contributed to the knowledge of the causative agents of paragonimiasis and gnathostomiasis in México.To date, he
has published 113 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 39 articles of general interest, 13 chapters in books, and 4 books.He
has established 2 subfamilies, 17 genera, and described 41 species.He
has directed 58 student theses including 51 BScs, 2 MScs, and 2 PhDs.
