Marc C. Mathis, Executive Director, mmathis@earlystageeast.org

Marc C. Mathis is a seasoned businessman who draws on the lessons and experience he gained through a successful career in management, venture capital, and as an entrepreneur. His passion for entrepreneurship manifested over 18 years ago as an undergraduate student at Norfolk State University where he developed his first business plan and became an advocate for the development of minority entrepreneurs. Thus began his journey to become a successful minority business owner.
While pursuing his entrepreneurial goals, Marc sharpened his skills as a Manager with Foot Locker, Inc. where he gained 10 years of valuable management experience and insight. In this position he established many key business relationships and gained extensive knowledge in lifestyle branding and urban marketing. Read More He applied this knowledge to a start-up endeavor which he co-founded called Rimmax Wheels, a custom wheels manufacturing company which immediately gained national attention due to the company's innovative product lines; specifically innovating and producing the first "Spinner" wheels for motorcycles in industry history. Freschman, Managing Principal for Innovation Capital Advisors, LLC (ICA), Innovation Ventures, L.P. (IV), Delaware Innovation Fund (DIF), and Founder of Early Stage East (ESE). Mr. Freschman immediately took a liking to Marc because of his drive, passion for entrepreneurship, and extensive knowledge in the world of hip-hop branding and urban ventures, an industry in which Mr. Freschman was intrigued and also interested in gaining more insight.
