Before joining RH&K, DeLaunay built and ran his own public affairs and business development consultancy.Prior to that, he was director of advocacy communications for the American Medical Association in Washington, DC.DeLaunay also co-founded and was president of DeLaunay/Phillips Communications, an award-winning agency he managed from 1989 to 2003.Before launching this firm, he served clients for eight years at Elgin Syferd (prior to its acquisition by DDB Worldwide), where he rose to senior vice president and director of public relations.DeLaunay began his career in communications as a reporter for Associated Press Radio Network, a step that familiarized him with the workings of the state capitol in Olympia.He
later served as press secretary for Washington Secretary of State Bruce Chapman in the late 1970s, before he
made the transition to a public relations agency as an Account Manager at Cole & Weber
in Seattle.DeLaunay holds a B.A. in communications from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash. DeLaunay and his family make their home in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle.
