, BBVA Compass has grown to become the 15th largest U.S. commercial bank, ranking as the third largest bank in Alabama, fourth largest bank in Texas and fifth largest bank in Arizona and operating more than 720 branches throughout Texas, Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Colorado and New Mexico.
Manuel "Manolo" Sánchez joined BBVA in September 1990.
In 1994, he was appointed director and senior vice president for BBVA Paris.
His BBVA career took him to the United States in 1999 after being named director and senior vice president of Global Corporate Banking at BBVA New York.
In 2002, Sánchez went to BBVA Bancomer in Mexico City to become chief risk officer.
Sánchez returned to the U.S. in 2005 to lead Laredo National Bank - then newly acquired by BBVA - as president and CEO.
assumed the helm of BBVA Compass in December 2008.
