...Manju Bharat Ram is the Founder and Chairperson of the innovative Shri Ram Schools in India which were started in 1988 with the objective of developing each student's potential to the fullest by giving equal emphasis to academics, sports, cultural and social activities.
Based in New Delhi, Ms Ram
is also the Chairperson of Shriram Educare
a non-profit consultancy working to transform school education by incorporating relevant competencies for the future, through workshops, seminars consultations etc. She is substantially involved in education for children with disabilities being Trustee and Honorary General Secretary of the Blind Relief Association since 1968.
The Trust has a school for 300 visually challenged boys, a technical training centre, a Post-Graduate Teacher Training Institute for the Blind
, Computer Centre and a sheltered workshop.Ms Ram
has been involved in fund-raising, planning and policy decisions, making it self-sufficient, introducing vocational training for different levels of aptitude, building an audio studio for recording lessons for the children, and setting up a computerized Braille press.Her other responsibilities include being a Founder Member of Charity Founder Member Charity Aid Foundation, India (CAF) since 1998 which was set up as part of the CAF International network.She is also Chairperson of SRF Vidyalaya, Chennai and on the Board of Governors for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan since 1998, an organization with over 800 schools.She is Member of Board of Governors for Lady Irwin College, New Delhi and Founder Member of Pratham Delhi, Education Initiative Trust Board which has helped 1,600,000 children gain literacy.She is also past President, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organisation and Member of Board of Directors of the National Handicapped Finance and Development Cooperation (Ministry of Social Justice and Environment).
