Well known television star Ms.Malavika Avinash has joined Zee Kannada as the channel's new Programming Head. Malavika has joined Zee Kannada as the head of one of the most prominent positions in the channel. She has been in the industry for over two decades and has an undying passion for acting.
As the Programming Head, Malavika will be responsible for creating a programming mix that will be unique to Zee Kannada. Will strive to provide programmes that are vibrant, fresh, entertaining, educative and in consonance with the culture, tradition, likes and dislikes of the people of Karnataka.
Popularly known as "Madhavi Patel" , the role she played in the most popular television serial "Mukta" and that which has made her into a cult figure in the minds of the people. Her claim to fame being the protagonist role in the state award winning tele series "Maya Mruga" directed by Mr.T.N.Seetaram. Legendary K.Balachander ushered her into the Tamil hearts across the world with a 400 parts Tamil series 'Anni'. She also hosted "Agni" , a talk show on a Kannada channel and Takadhimita, a game show for classical dancers on another regional channel.
Malavika started her eventful acting career as a child artiste at the age of eight, with the renowned director Mr.G.V.Iyer in 'Krishnavatar'. Followed by many films in Malayalam and Kannada. She has had the privilege of working with famous personalities like the legendary K.Balachander, Girish Kasaravalli, Girish Karnad, Aushutosh Gowariker and Dinesh Baboo.
Malavika, a law graduate by qualification, has versatile expertise and interests. Culturally inclined, Malavika is a trained Bharatnatayam danseuse, plays the Sitar and has knowledge of over six languages.
She has also directed documentaries for the Information Department, Government of Karnataka. She has been freelancing for English, Kannada and Tamil print media. She was also the assistant editor for the "Madhyam" journal. Her love for TV programming, Critical analysis, Kannada language, poetry, Ghazals, Classical music, Sufi music, Politics, Writing and Travel is what gets her to Zee Kannada.
