Mal McGreevy, General Manager of Rail Services at Translink, made the comments during a presentation to councillors at the Planning Committee meeting last week about Translink's plans for the Antrim borough.
In addition to a bus park and ride facility announced several weeks ago, Ballymartin, near Templepatrick, could benefit from a rail halt by 2025, according to Mr McGreevy.
However, he poured cold water on aspirations for a rail halt at Belfast International Airport, which he said 'just won't work', citing the complexity of the building work apparently required and the success of the current bus route.
Mr McGreevy also indicated that a halt at Muckamore was 'not practical', while Glenavy was not mentioned as a viable candidate for re-opening either.
