Kabale- The president of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, has told his party to emulate the resilient spirit of the National Reistance Army founders who fought a successful five-year Bush War with little food and no allowance.
Addressing party leaders in Kabale Town on Wednesday, Mr Muntu also asked members to mobilise grassroot support for the party.
He was on a mobilisation tour to form the party's structures at village and parish levels.
Mr Muntu also said village and parish party structures would help in overcoming electoral malpractices.
"During the NRA/NRM bush struggle that liberated Uganda after five years, we used to walk for 50km with guns on our heads and little food but we never got tired because we had an objective of liberating Uganda," he said.
"...Use bicycles if you can because building strong FDC party structures is the only hope we can give to Ugandans at this time when the NRM party is facing serious cracks," the FDC leader added as he responded to questions from his party leaders about facilitation.
He asked the youth to reject handouts from the NRM party leadership but join the struggle to liberate their country through a non-disputed voting process come 2016.
"For now I am ready to make the loudest noise, especially on President Museveni claiming the UPDF is his army. We went to the bush to liberate Uganda but not to become his army. Also Museveni is claiming he cannot hand over power to the opposition and is calling them funny names. It's the people of Uganda who gave him that power and they still have the powers to withdraw it from him," Mr Muntu said.
