Maarten de Rijke
Maarten de Rijke is a professor of Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam.
studied philosophy (MSc 1989) and mathematics (MSc 1990) and wrote a PhD thesis, defended in 1993, on extended modal logics.
He leads a research group on intelligent information access, at the interface of information retrieval, language technology and semistructured data and is a strong believer in task-driven research, mixing theory, experiment and applications.
specializations are language modeling, user generated content, expertise retrieval, entity search, social media analysis, semantic search, retrieval beyond facts, documents and ranked lists.
