M. Salimullah , a veteran journalist and freedom fighter died of heart attack at his residence in Dhaka on Sunday evening.He was about 67 , reports BSS.
long career as a journalist he
worked with different dailies and also for some years in the Press Institute of Bangladesh
career in journalism with Daily Millat in 1955.He worked with Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the country's liberation war
.He worked as a reporter of Daily Paigam for some time
.After liberation he joined now defunct Purbadesh as a reporter
.He became City Editor of Purbadesh and worked with it till its closure in 1975
.Mr Salimullah worked as Dhaka Bureau_Chief of now defunct Dainik Barta of Rajshahi and become its Managing Editor
worked for sometime also with Daily Sangbad.Later , he joined Press Institute of Bangladesh as Editor of Nirikhya
.He worked with PIB for several years till his retirement in late 1997
contributed series of writings on topics of national and international importance and authored some books.
A man of amiable disposition , Mr Salimullah
was popularly known as Salim Bhai to his
young colleagues in the profession.He was a member of Jatiya Press Club
Kamal Lohani , Editor of Dainik Probhat , who knew him for about 50 years described him as a man committed to professional objectivity.
