Bowling Green husband & wife artists Claude & Lynn Robertson will be showing a selection of mixed media work & paintings on canvas, paper, & wood.
They continue their explorations with collage, assemblage, & oil painting. Claude's new work includes 6 portraits of women. Claude will be present at the reception, so visitors can ask him the stories behind these chosen subjects! Originally from Indiana, the Robertsons have lived in Bowling Green for over 16 years. Lynn is currently Gallery Director at the Capitol Arts Center in BG. She directs visual shows at the Houchens & Mezzanine Galleries there at the Capitol; as well as partnering with the Medical Center for the "Women In the Arts" Annual Exhibition, & The Health & Wellness Center's quarterly art shows. Claude is a retired financial advisor, & has used some of the art seen with their foreign travels as an influence in some of his work. Lynn most recently has been rendering realistic objects in a more simplistic background: "almost a Zen or philosophical attitude.
"The Capitol Arts' Visual Arts program involves everything done throughout the year to keep the gallery running," said Lynn Robertson, Capitol Arts Alliance gallery director.
"We provide space, lighting, reception, graphics, public relations, postcards, everything that is involved in most of the exhibits here. We don't sell enough to support the entire program," she said. Robertson said Women-in-the-Arts is an exciting show. "It brings some of the women artists out. It's always a great show," she said.
