The real heroes in this election were those from Gwinnett Elections Manager Lynn Ledford's office, who had to determine just exactly where the proposed city limits line was and determine who was eligible to vote in the cityhood referendum ... often splitting precincts.
Lawrenceville, Ga., (May 18, 2010) - Gwinnett Elections Director Lynn Ledford received the 2010 Frances Duncan Award from the Georgia Election Officials Association (GEOA) recently."This is an incredible honor and Lynn should be commended for the strong leadership and hard work she has shown to the citizens of Georgia," said Georgia's Secretary of State Brian Kemp.
Lynn has worked for Gwinnett County since 1987.She has served at all levels in the Voter Registration and Elections Division and was appointed its director in January 2002.Lynn is the Immediate Past President of the Georgia Election Officials Association and serves on committees with the Voter Registrars Association of Georgia.In 2007 she was appointed to a National Task Force for Poll Worker and Public Education on the Elections Process and also serves on multiple Election Advisory Councils for voter registration and election officials.
Lynn Ledford, elections supervisor, says: "Georgia law requires that we issue new cards to notify voters when their political districts have changed, so we will send out cards starting June 8 in preparation for this year's upcoming elections."
