Director of Development Lynn Gibson works to expand private sector relationships for the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI). Prior to coming to NMSI, Lynn served as Director of Development for the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) and as Director of Community Relations for The Philanthropy Roundtable. Lynn spent the winter of 1999 as a project director for welfare-reform efforts at a think-tank in New Zealand. Her public service includes work at the U.S. Department of Labor, serving as Special Assistant and Public Liaison in the Secretary's office. Lynn's professional experience has spanned the private, non-profit and government sectors. She spent more than five years at The Heritage Foundation, where her last role was as Director of the Young Leaders Program. Her responsibilities supervising the Young Leaders Program included directing a comprehensive internship program, a job bank, leadership development activities and The Heritage alumni program. Prior to that she served as a staff member to the United States Senate and as Director of Alumni Relations at her alma mater, Grove City College. Lynn has a bachelor of science in biology from Grove City College and a master's degree in student personnel from Slippery Rock University. She is from Youngstown, Ohio. Lynn Gibson, Program Director
Ms. Gibson joined ACTA in 2010 and is responsible for our development and programmatic growth. She brings over 15 years of experience in public policy, higher education, and philanthropy. Before joining ACTA, she served as Director of Community Relations at The Philanthropy Roundtable; Special Assistant, Public Liaison, to the U.S. Department of Labor; Director of the Young Leaders Program and Job Bank Coordinator at The Heritage Foundation; and Director of Alumni Relations at Grove City College. She spent the fall of 2009 at the Maxim Institute in Auckland, New Zealand working on a project that will address welfare reform in the country. Ms. Gibson holds a B.S. in biology from Grove City College and an M.A. in higher education administration from Slippery Rock University. She has been involved with the Junior Leagues of Washington, D.C. and Youngstown, Ohio, and also served as a tutor for College Bound, a mentoring program for D.C. public school students, for five years.

(July 13, 2010)-The American Council of Trustees and Alumni is pleased to announce that Lynn Gibson, a non-profit professional with more than 15 years experience in public policy, higher education and philanthropy, has joined the organization as its new program director. In this role, she will manage ACTA's development efforts and coordinate programmatic initiatives. "Lynn Gibson brings terrific experience to the job and a profound commitment to higher education reform," said ACTA President Anne Neal. "In recent years we have doubled our staff and increased our budget by 60 percent, and we are delighted to have Lynn build on this growth." "I am eager to expand ACTA's success in educating policymakers, parents, trustees and the public about the importance of keeping down costs and improving quality at our colleges and universities," Gibson said.
