Lynn has been surrounded by a very broad and varied wealth of music for the whole of her life, an education and experience which stands her in good stead today. As music is the greatest creative "love of her life", she likens the opportunity of choosing music and organising concerts to being like a child left in a sweet shop for many hours!Because of the vocal success she achieved, even as a young girl, she has always endeavoured to promote the joys of singing, both through her 30 year teaching career and by performance.
She was trained by Madam Annie Tonks of Sedgley, and, as an 11 year old performing in her first competitive festival, was presented with her winning prize by Isobel Bailey. She went on to successfully sing many songs composed by Michael Head, who was particularly pleased with her interpretation of them. She has performed as a soloist in a great variety of venues throughout the West Midlands and beyond, including many guest appearances with male voice choirs, and has won many trophies in the process.
Her repertoire includes the Oratorios of Bach, Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn; the leading soprano roles in operas by Gluck, Purcell, Gilbert & Sullivan, Smetana and Britten. The works of Faure, Schultz, Vivaldi's "Gloria" and Mozart's "Exultate Jubilate" are also listed amongst her impressive range of vocal achievements.
Lynn has trained and conducted massed schools' choirs of over 200 voices, trained a local adult ladies choir and was once chosen as "Hero of the week" by the Wolverhampton-based Beacon Radio for her services to music. During 1996 Lynn was appointed as Deputy Headteacher at a Sandwell primary school, the M.D. of the Sandwell Schools' Choir and the Deputy Conductor to the "Gentlemen Songsters".
Over the years, she has made a variety of contributions to significant events at the Black Country Living Museum, where she has also trained the children for the annual Sunday School Anniversary. She is also an active supporter of the Dudley Festival of Music Drama and Dance. In addition to her valued artistic input to the Songsters, Lynn is also a Trustee of the Gentlemen Songsters Registered Charity
Since Lynn was appointed as M.D.of the "Songsters" they have been given a new lease of life and the rest, as they say, "is history".So whether it be in this country or abroad, on top of a mountain, or under the sea, come rain or shine, in the words of our former Choir President, the late Bert Bissell, Lynn also maintains that "the best is yet to be."
Neil was appointed Assistant Accompanist to "The Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir" in May 1998, after meeting his mentor, Lynn Andrews, whilst undertaking his first teaching practice at her school.

Musical Director, Lynn Andrews addressing the audience
This item gave our Musical Director, Lynn Andrews, an opportunity to conduct yet another military band (having practised on the Band of The Prince Of Wales's Division (Clive) Band a few weeks earlier!) Once again, the evening was a tremendous success, and we hope to be able to support the band on any of their future visits to the midlands.
It was a great evening's entertainment, combining the best of Aynuk and Ayli's humour with the singing of the choir, together with vocal solos by Lynn Andrews and piano solos by Neil Bolton.
John Walley took charge of the baton as Acting Musical Director at the end of May on the departure of Lynn Andrews.
The donation comprised a gift of £200 in memory of the late Mr Don Andrews, father of our former Musical Director Lynn Andrews, and a further £300 from Gentlemen Songsters charity funds.
