Lynda-Marie Taurasi
Lynda-Marie Taurasi joined WCHL in the fall of 2008 and was named News Director in May 2009. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Meredith College in Raleigh. Upon graduation, she spent a few years living in New York City, working as a music and entertainment journalist. She became disillusioned with the entertainment industry and longed for Carolina blue skies, sunshine, and most importantly, fresh air.
In 2006, she moved to Carrboro and became active in community journalism. She was the Wednesday host of The West End Report on Carrboro's non-profit, community radio station WCOM 103.5 LP-FM. While at WCOM, she turned her attention to producing audio documentaries such as the one she produced on Carrboro's Really Free Market.
In her "spare" time, she freelances as the North Carolina correspondent for Free Speech Radio News, a national and international radio news program. She lives in Chapel Hill and attends the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, finishing her Certificate in Documentary Arts.
She has a passion for radio and all things Orange County; She believes WCHL is the voice of our community. Email her your news tip at
