Dr. Lydia A. Woods earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Illinois, in 1975, a Masters of Science Degree from Chicago State University, in 1985 and a Doctorate in Kinesiology from the University of Georgia, in 1991.
After 30 years of teaching, Dr. Woods is currently working on a dual degree, Master of Divinity (MDiv) and Masters of Arts in Christian Education (MACE) at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC). She is a candidate for the ordained ministry at Cascade United Methodist Church.
Woods began writing Christian Poetry in 1989 and is the author of ten books of Christian poetry. She is presently working on several theme type poetry books and a book entitled, “The Care and Feeding of the Temple,†which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2007.
Her numerous speaking engagements in 2006 include Women’s Retreats and Conferences, Health Fairs, and College Seminars. She speaks on topics of Health, Wellness and Spirituality and the provision that God has made for the maintenance of our bodies, minds and Spirits.
Dr. Woods is currently on Sabbatical, where she has been competing in USA Master Track & Field, Senior Olympics, 5K & 10K Road Racing, and Triathlons. A feature article in “Her Sports†magazine will appear in the March/April 2007 edition. She has won over 100 medals in her first year of competition and is a National Masters Gold medalist in the 4 X 100 relay. She is nationally ranked in Masters Track & Field in 11 events.
Woods won 14 medals at the 2006 Georgia Golden Olympics and has qualified to represent Georgia at the National Senior Olympics which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky in July 2007. She is Mother of four and Grandmother of three and credits her accomplishments to the power of the Holy Spirit which works within her.
