Luther H. Hodges, Jr. Board Member Mr. Hodges has enjoyed a longstanding and highly successful career as a banker and in government service. His commercial banking experience includes a tenure as Chairman of the Board of the North Carolina National Bank (now Bank of America) during the years it grew to become the largest bank in the Southeast. Subsequently, he was Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce in the Carter Administration and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Washington Bancorporation and The National Bank of Washington (DC). Mr. Hodges was Owner and Publisher of The Santa Fean Magazine and an owner and manager of the Hotel Santa Fe. He has served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Duke University, and the University of New Mexico and was Chairman of the Board of the College of Santa Fe. His teaching and publications center upon business history and focus on how business enterprises, practices, and leaders influence and, in turn, are influenced by both society and the actions of government.

Luther H. Hodges, Jr. Retired Banker and Politician Rotary, Banks, and Economics Currently, Mr. Hodges is an owner/manager of Santa Fe Hospitality and the Hotel Santa Fe. Moreover, he manages two closely held investment partnerships. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina and is a past chairman of the College of Santa Fe. He has also served as a Trustee of The American University, Washington, D.C. and of Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC. He is a director of Homeowners of America Insurance Corporation, Dallas TX, Atmocean, Inc., Santa Fe, NM, and H&H Medical Technologies, Inc., Wilkesboro, NC. Mr. Hodges has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Ports Authority. Previously, Mr. Hodges was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Washington Bancorporation (1983-89), a regional bank holding company, and The National Bank of Washington (1981-89). Mr. Hodges was, for many years, active on the board of directors of numerous community, educational, and corporate organizations. He has been a member of the faculty of The University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), Duke University, and The University of New Mexico. Mr. Hodges was educated at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1957) and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration (1961). He served to the rank of Lieutenant, United States Navy Reserve (1957-65). Mr. Hodges' father served as the Governor of North Carolina, 1954-61, and as President of Rotary International,1967-68.
