"The chapel will be open to the laity to pray with us for the liturgy of the hours and if they want to stop by for a visit," Father Luke said.

Father Luke Clark O.P., pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas, says that the Dominicans who are also known as the Order of Preachers (hence the initials O.P. normally follow the names of Dominican clergy) are enjoying a surge in vocations and a priory in Charlottesville will provide a place for at least six of them to live.

"A priory will not only help us in our own religious life, but it will assist the local church and its needs," Father Luke said.
