Lawrence, Mass. (May 17, 2012) - Eastern Bank
, in collaboration with Massachusetts education nonprofit ACCESS, has honored Lawrence resident and business leader Luis Yepez
at the ACCESS First One Celebration for overcoming the odds to become a first-generation college graduate.
, a nonprofit based in Lawrence, Boston and Springfield, Massachusetts, works one-on-one with students to help them navigate the financial aid process.
It launched the ACCESS First One Awards in 2010 to recognize those who have been the first in their family to complete college and inspire others to do the same.
Yepez, the son of Ecuadorian immigrants, is a top executive at the Lawrence-based Mainstream Global, an independent reseller of computer and electronic components.
It specializes in working with computer manufacturers to maximize returns on excess inventories, end of life product, and off lease components.
Yepez is a graduate of the U.S.
Naval Academy, where he was a systems engineer, and went on to receive a master's in management from the University of Redlands.
Eastern Bank and ACCESS
joined together to present the award to Yepez
at a ceremony held on May 16 at Chester's at Bell Tower Square in Lawrence.
