Entertainment attorney, manager and consultant.Ms. West has been the President/CEO of West Entertainment Services, Inc., for nearly two decades, representing and advising many of the biggest artists and executives in the music industry.
From working with the U.S. Copyright Office, where she
developed a thorough knowledge of intellectual property issues -- and the Department of Commerce
as a Project Officer for High Impact Projects -- to starting and running a record company with music mogul, Al Bell, and, finally, to her
current role as advisor to a number of superstar artists, West
has literally done everything in the music business but sing.Ms. West's
commitment to music extends beyond representing clients.She
has dedicated countless hours to a number of non-profit music organizations.Included among these organizations is the Black Entertainment Sports Lawyers Association
(BESLA), of which Ms. West
is a founding member, a former President, Chairman, and board member.She has served for the past several years as Trustee of the R&B Foundation, an organization dedicated to the financial support and historic and cultural preservation of R&B artists of the 50's and 60's.Additionally, Ms. West is a frequent lecturer.She has served on panels for the Practising Law Institute, and continues to speak at music seminars and colleges around the country.West's lecturing talents were honed at Howard University, where she served as an Adjunct Professor and created and taught a course entitled "Legal Protection of Music, Arts & Literature".
