Prior to establishing McLean Watson Capital, Loudon and his partner financed and advised Softimage, a world leader in high-end 3D animation, through its growth from 4 to 250 employees, its IPO on Nasdaq in 1992, and its sale to Microsoft in 1994. Prior to that, Loudon practised corporate/commercial and securities law with a major Canadian law firm, concentrating on M&A and technology financing. He subsequently founded a corporate law firm that specialized in representing growth companies. He has served on the Boards of a range of public companies, including BPI Mutual Funds, Brookfield/BF Realty and Softimage. Loudon F. Owen is a practicing lawyer, and is Managing Partner and co-founder of McLean Watson Capital Inc. McLean Watson is one of Canada's pre-eminent venture capital firms with offices in Toronto and Singapore. Prior to establishing McLean Watson Capital, Loudon and his partner financed and advised Softimage, a world leader in high-end 3D animation, in its growth from 4 to 250 employees, its IPO on Nasdaq in 1992 and the sale to Microsoft in 1994. Loudon was involved from its early days, first as an investor and director, then serving as the Joint Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Softimage from 1993 to the time of its sale. Loudon currently serves on the Boards of Directors of i4i (Chairman), Vismand Exploration (Chairman), Amplus Communication, Ntegrator International (listed on Singapore Stock Exchange), Quantec Geoscience (Chairman), HDX - Hosted Data Transaction Solutions Inc. (TSX - Chairman) and Hanfeng Evergreen Inc (TSX - Chairman). As Chairman of i4i, he was personally responsible for launching, championing and raising the capital for i4i to enforce its patent against Microsoft. This resulted in the largest patent award ever affirmed by the Court of Appeals. The case was further appealed by Microsoft at the US Supreme Court where a unanimous decision in favour of i4i was handed down on June 10, 2011. Loudon has extensive public and private company Board experience, and performs various pro bono Board and trustee work, including Chairman of the Canadian INSEAD Alumni Association, 6 years as a member of the Board of Governors of Upper Canada College, previously Chairman of the Commercial Developments Committee - Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), and previously a director of the Empire Club of Canada and Alliance Fran├žaise de Toronto. In addition, he has previously served on the Boards of a range of public companies, including BPI Mutual Funds, Brookfield/BF Realty and Softimage. Loudon Owen, chairman of i4i, said he remains confident that the appeals court will uphold last month's decision of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas."Microsoft's scare tactics about the consequences of the injunction cannot shield it from the imminent review of the case by the Federal Circuit Court of Appeal," he said....
"To paraphrase the great heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis, 'They can run, but they can't hide.' Microsoft's time will eventually run out," said Mr. Owen, who is also chairman of The Fight Network and a former Ontario College boxing champion as well as an expert in Brazilian jiu jitsu.

He is also a principal of Patent Monetization Inc., an investment and advisory firm that assists owners in monetizing their intellectual property. Prior to establishing McLean Watson Capital, Mr. Owen and his partner financed and advised Softimage, a world leader in high-end 3D animation software, in its growth from 4 to 250 employees, its IPO on Nasdaq in 1992 and the sale to Microsoft in 1994 as the first public company Microsoft acquired. He was involved from its early days, first as an investor and director, then serving as the Joint Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Softimage from 1993 to the time of its sale. Mr. Owen currently serves, and has served, on a wide range of public and private companies' Boards of Directors.
