Lou CampbellNISH East RegionLou Campbell's official title is Operations Manager/Engineer II; however, he also carries the title of Team Leader for Special Projects.Lou carries both titles well and he excels at all of the responsibilities that come with the titles.He is a NISH Team member who completes his daily workload of obtaining new contracts and maintaining current projects under the JWOD program.In addition, Lou heads up many special projects that benefit NISH and the JWOD program today and that will continue well into the future.Lou first came to work for NISH after spending several years at a Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP).As a result, Lou saw first hand, the impact that employment (and specifically jobs through the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program), have on the lives of people with disabilities.In the past year, Lou has been called upon by the NISH Team to work on special projects that will support the foundation needed by NISH in order to succeed well into the 21st Century.Lou has served as the Functional Manager for the Service Costing Program that will integrate the costing piece of service contracts into a browser-based, user-friendly system in the corporate database.This involvement has resulted in Lou spending much of his time developing and integrating the needs of the company into this larger system.Additionally, Lou has taken a lead role in the development of a formalized partnership agreement between NISH and the Naval Facilities Command.This group, consisting of both NISH and representatives from the Navy, works to develop a desktop JWOD program that Navy government contracting professionals will be able to utilize to streamline the contracting process and maintain a commitment to cost-effective pricing and quality delivery of service.In addition to these special projects, Lou has had the opportunity to work on and develop a variety of innovative projects under the JWOD Program, including operations for military vehicle transfers and a lens crafting service project for the military.Both of these projects are unique to the JWOD Program and once implemented fully, can and will provide new and unique opportunities for people with disabilities.In all of these projects, Lou credits the work of the team in making these projects come to fruition."I am simply the guy who brings all of these people together.Without the work of so many great people who are dedicated to the program and to the NISH mission, none of these policies and programs would be possible."Lou Campbell, through his personal actions, has set a standard for his professionalism, work ethic and commitment to NISH and the people with disabilities on whose behalf the program works.It is in recognition of his selfless efforts that NISH is pleased to recognize Lou Campbell with the 1998 Ivy Johansen Award for Excellence. - - Back to Top - - [NISH Homepage][ HOME | Publications | Current News | Legislative Affairs ][ About NISH | Federal Customers | Training ][ About JWOD | Friends & Partners | Regulatory Updates ]
