Lorrie StrommeTree Care AdvisorThe meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Lorrie Stromme, President, on Thursday, December 18, 2003, at the MN State Horticultural Society Center for Northern Gardening, 1755 Prior Ave., St. Paul, MN. Approval of Minutes.The Minutes of the 11/20/03 membership meeting were reviewed and approved.Motion/Second: Kirk Brown/Mark Stennes.Motion carried.Lorrie Stromme and the other MnSTAC members gave Kathy Widin a warm round of applause to show appreciation for Kathy's service as MnSTAC Board member from 2002 through 2003.Farewell to Lorrie StrommeThe group thanked Lorrie Stromme for her service as MnSTAC President from 2001 through 2003, and presented her with a framed print of "The Honking Tree" and a cake with the MnSTAC logo designed in frosting. The meeting was adjourned at 11:40 a.m. Lorrie Stromme then passed the gavel to Ken Simons.

Johnson, Jim Hermann, Ken Holman, Kathy Widin, Michael Max, Robert Slater.Lorrie Stromme, MnSTAC President, called the board meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. on December 8, 2003, at the Tree Trust office, located at 2350 Wycliff St., St. Paul, Minnesota.Approval of Minutes.Ken Holman and Michael Max distributed the list of administrative tasks prepared by Lorrie Stromme and the time needed to perform them, based on her experience in doing them the past 3 years.Lorrie Stromme explained the Tree House project taking place at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum during the summer of 2004.It is called "Tree Houses and Tree Places: A Celebration of Trees."In a juried process, tree house designs will be selected and installed, with goal ofdelighting and educating Arboretum visitors about the benefits of trees.Lorrie reviewed the design criteria, which strictly prohibit any damage to or negative impact on the trees.

Lorrie Stromme, MnSTAC President, called the board meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. on October 6, 2003, at the Tree Trust office, located at 2350 Wycliff St., St. Paul, Minnesota.Approval of Minutes.Lorrie encouraged them to contact MSA, since MSA is also looking into the possibility of hiring a part-time executive secretary.Lorrie is not available to serve a second term as President.Lorrie Stromme informed the board about a recent meeting with representatives from the League of Women Voters, who are interested in facilitating a series of workshops at upcoming MnSTAC meetings on "How to Make a Difference."These workshops would coach the rank-and-file MnSTAC members about how to advocate for urban forestry when interacting with legislators and local decision makers.Lorrie has contacted MnSTAC's Legislative Committee chair (Mark Schnobrich) about this strategy.Respectfully submitted by Lorrie Stromme

Lorrie also reminded folks that the deadline for applying for MnSTAC's scholarship to attend the Engineering Green national urban forest conference in San Antonio, TX, was June 2, 2003.Lorrie also shared a list of MnSTAC Committees and their respective chairs and encouraged folks to help MnSTAC advance its mission through committee involvement. Lorrie Stromme introduced Corrie Zoll of the Green Institute.
