Vice-President: Lori Messing
Lori Messing has been a member of ALDA, Inc. and ALDA-GS since 1999. When she discovered ALDA, she was 24 years old and had been experiencing progressive hearing loss in both ears for 8 years. She came to ALDA knowing very little about living with deafness. She did not know how to use a phone and she was even afraid to drive a car! Excited to learn there were others like her losing their hearing, Lori no longer felt isolated and immediately began to embrace ALDA's "Whatever Works! philosophy.
At her first ALDAcon in Alexandria, VA, she was amazed by all the technology available for people with hearing loss and she made lasting friendships with people all over the world. She decided to give back as much as she could to the group that had given her so much of her life back.
She has volunteered for ALDA in many capacities. She has been the Public Relations Chairperson for several ALDA conventions, the Assistant Editor of the ALDA News and Secretary of ALDA-GS. She is currently the Editor of the ALDA-GS Newsletter and the moderator for the ALDA-GS listserv on Yahoo Groups. Lori is honored to be Vice President and she hopes to make changes that will lead ALDA-GS into the future.

The MIN will be retained by the service provider and is not portable, explains Lori Messing, CTIA director for numbering issues.Assigning two numbers to each customer this way would allow the billing information to be processed by the customer's carrier.MIN-based carriers must complete MIN/MDN separation prior to entering the testing phase of implementation.
Billing vendors will be challenged by the MIN/MDN separation. The difficulty lies in the management of MINs and MDNs.Number management must be able to track both numbers; ported numbers must be tracked for special processing.
