An educator and administrator for over 30 years, Dr. Lloyd Sain, Jr. is a native of Forrest City, AR., where he was a middle school English teacher for eight years.
He has been a high school English teacher, an assistant principal, principal and the former Director of Leadership and Teacher Development with the Little Rock School District, where he oversaw the state's largest school district's professional development program for PreK-12 school leaders, paraprofessionals, and teachers. Known among his colleagues as a courageous voice, an educational trailblazer, and a competent and skilled leader of leaders and teachers, Dr. Sain revolutionized and advanced the District's professional development program and platform to ensure a more tailored, learner-driven, and data-driven development that led to improved teacher and leader effectiveness that resulted in improved outcomes for students. Some of his accomplishments and credits in public education include the institution of an Aspiring Leadership Academy for Principals, the creation of an Executive Coaching Program for School Leaders and Instructional Coaches, the implementation of a professional development online management program, the oversight as Chairperson and training development for five evaluation systems and instruments for school leaders, instructional coaches, classroom teachers, media specialists, and school counselors, the creation of a middle school literacy and writing program, the development of a quality, district-wide professional development program, and the institution of a classroom observation tool that allowed principals and assistant principals to utilize an in-house application to collect data, to score the observational experience, and to provide instant feedback to the teacher. As a leader, Dr. Sain received an acclaimed reputation as one of the most effective leader in our state who created, sustained, and led a quality alternative school for behavioral challenging students. His exemplary alternative education program and school (i.e., Alternative Learning Center) became a model program where educators visited and consulted when redesigning their second chance programs. In addition to his work in public schools and systems, Dr. Sain has served as an adjunct English and writing professor at Philander Smith College, Arkansas Baptist College, Pulaski Technical College, and Shorter College, as well as currently teachers graduate educational leadership courses at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In November 2007, Dr. Sain became the first Arkansas educator to serve on the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) National Board for a two-year term and was re-elected in November 2012 to the NABSE Board as the Director of the NABSE Research and Institute Development and as Chair of the Special Project and Evaluation Commission. A New Tyler Barber College Advisory Board Member, singer, and board member with the national recording Arkansas Gospel Mass Choir, Dr. Sain still finds time to publish educational articles, mentor youths, as well as consult and present at national conferences and for school districts. Some noted articles are "Using From Rage to Hope: The Principal's Role in Creating a Vision," "A Research Synposis: Our Membership's Response to the Common Core Movement," and "Coaching for Educators: The Inevitable Impact on Leadership." His committed work is to high quality teaching, professional development, effective leadership, and rigorous and relevant learning experiences for all children in every classroom, specifically schools served by children of color and poverty. Driven by this mission, Dr. Sain has been a courageous advocate, a creative innovator, and a capable system thinker for needed changes in the areas of public education and educational leadership. Because he is an experienced and influential educator, Sain is a certified trainer in Differentiated Instruction, Fierce Conversations Training, Common Formative Assessment, and Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention, Standards in Practice, and many other instructional and curricular topics. His varied roles as a classroom teacher and as a school and district leader have grounded his experiences and creativity to develop customized and relevant professional learning sessions that speak to today's schools, needs, and students. Dr. Sain holds a B.S.E. degree and graduate studies in English Education from the University of Central Arkansas, a M.S.E. degree in Curriculum and Instruction with concentration in English/writing from the Arkansas State University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. As a 2013 graduate of the Results Coaching Global accredited coach training program, Dr. Sain is a credentialed Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and is a sought-after leadership coach and trainer who coaches school and district leaders and who provides coach leadership training in numerous districts across the nation. Sain is also a Certified Mentor Coach through the College of Executive Coaching, as well as serves as a faculty member for Results Coaching Global, Incorporated. In his spare time, he still renders musical renditions for various civic, social, and religious occasions as well as serves as the Chief Executive Office of LSJ Leadership & Coaching Development, LLC., where "Quality Learning Every Time" is our signature motto.
