Led by Prep Habitat advisers English teacher Pete Ford and Theology teacher Lisa Traum, 15 or so student workers have manned each of the trips, where they work under the supervision and tutelage of Habitat veteran "Bob-the-Builder. The weeks of organizing by Service Learning for Social Justice Director Vincent McMahon, Event Coordinator Lisa Traum and senior Jack Lazar gave witness to Mr. McMahon's assertion that "peace and justice are at the very core of why our school exists."  Last week they were accompanied by faculty members Lisa Traum, Chaplain Rev. James White, Rick Ingraffia, Margaret Mainardi, Seann Farrell and Director of Service Learning Vinnie McMahon.

Lisa Traum, President
Ms. Lisa Traum is currently a teacher at Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange as well as the Director of High School Religious Education at Corpus Christi Parish in Chatham. She graduated from St. Joseph's University (Philadelphia) in 2006 with a B.A. in Theology. Ms. Traum volunteered for 11 years with Spark the Wave in various roles including teaching service learning classes and seminars on local, national and international levels in areas such as diversity awareness, effective communication, conflict resolution, peer learning, English as a second language (ESL), leadership development, and project planning. Spark the Wave is a 501(c)(3) organization that offers after-school and weekend seminars that provide an opportunity for middle and high school students to develop their skills in effective communication, leadership development, service learning, project planning and diversity awareness. Ms. Traum helped establish and taught at the first International Spark the Wave camp held in Chisinau, Moldova where international students learned various leadership skills while working with a local orphanage of children suffering from emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Ms. Traum has served on the Board of Directors for the Center for Evaluation and Counseling, Inc. as Vice President since December 2009.
