LISA THRASHER, President of Film Production & Distribution
LISA THRASHER, President of Film Production & Distribution Thrasher is an Independent Film Producer, Film Professor and Film Consultant who has been overseeing all Film, Television and PSA development, production and distribution for POWER UP since 2003.
Prior to joining POWER UP, Lisa did International Anti-Piracy Litigation and Trademark Prosecution for 20th Century Fox Film Corporation.
She also sat on the Motion Picture Association of America's International Anti-Piracy Committee where she worked in conjunction with the attorneys from Sony, Universal, MGM, Disney, Paramount and Warner Bros. to collectively bring civil & criminal lawsuits against individuals and businesses illegally distributing the studios' motion picture films, worldwide, and on the Internet.
also conducted International Relations between foreign heads of state - Presidents, Prime Ministers, Cabinet Ministers and Judges and 20th Century Fox
to try and persuade those leaders to provide better legal protections for the Intellectual Property of the entertainment conglomerate in their countries.
Lisa also worked for California Lawyers for the Arts where she assisted artists and filmmakers in protecting their own work and avoiding the infringement of others.
Lisa served as a Short Film Screener for the SUNDANCE Film Festival and has served as a Lecturer, Guest Producer or Juror at the following Film Festivals: Torino International G&L; Tokyo International G&L; Mix Brazil; Frameline; Tampa Bay Clip International; Berlinale International; London G&L; Belfast International; South by Southwest; Miami G&L; Barcelona Mostra Lambda; Taiwan Women Make Waves; Out in Africa.
Also working as a Visiting Professor, Lisa teaches a variety of Film courses, such as "Producing Independent & Women" Films‚" taught in Seoul, South Korea; "The Legal Aspects of Film Production" taught in both Cape Town & Johannesburg, South Africa; and "Producing Independent Film‚"taught in Buffalo, New York and Los Angeles, California.
After receiving her BFA in Photography & Film, but prior to Law School, Lisa worked as an Assistant Editor, Still Photographer and Camera Assistant on a variety of Documentaries, Industrials and News Magazines in New York City, Washington D.C. and Richmond, Virginia, including NBC" "Lunch Box Heros" and PBS' "Open For Business.

Often working as a freelance still photographer, Thrasher's passion is her
Fine Art Photography, which has been exhibited at Art Galleries in New York, NY; Richmond, Virginia; and Arles, France.
Lisa was the first Fine Art Photographer to ever be awarded the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship.
Lisa earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law and studied Film, Video, Photography & Fine Art at Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles; Parsons School of Design, in New York City; Studio Art Centers International (S.A.C.I.) in Florence, Italy; and the prestigious School of Art at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography & Film.
