...Mrs. MidkiffLisa Schauss Midkiff is an Evansville native and a graduate of the University of Evansville; she holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree.Her
major is in Radio, Television, Speech Communications and Theatre; she
holds a minor in theatre and a minor in English.Midkiff was a news anchor, producer and director at radio and television stations from Indianapolis south to Evansville, and worked as an Account Executive for the Tribune Star News Paper in Terre Haute, Indiana, prior to beginning her teaching career at Reitz Memorial High School.Midkiff converted to Catholicism in 1995 at Saint Patrick Church in Terre Haute, IN, under the spiritual director of Father Larry Moran, and enjoys sharing the Catholic faith with Memorial students and faculty alike.
In the classroom, Midkiff
enjoys working with her
students as they develop their critical thinking skills and communication skills, both written and verbal.Some of the novels Midkiff teaches include Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, Animal Farm and 1984 by George Orwell, William Golding's Lord oft he
Flies, Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, and The Pearl.Midkiff
also teaches Greek and classical drama from an assortment of writers including Sophocles
, Ibsen, and Chekov
, and American dramas such as A Raisin in the Sun, A Streetcar Named Desire, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Jesus Christ Superstar, and others.Midkiff
incorporates a good deal of writing in her
classroom, including varieties of personal writing as well as thesis work.
In addition to her
