Linwood "Woody" Helfand spent three-fourths of his
28 year advertising career as a newspaper executive before he
entered the direct marketing world of audience segmentation and targeting in 2000.Prior to joining Cox Target Media (the direct marketer that produces Valpak, Valpak.com, and Solo Valuz-solo mail lists, products, and mailings) he was Vice President of Sales for the New England based 104 newspaper group, Community Newspaper Company.He
was instrumental in enabling CNC
to attain positive EBIDA over a sixteen month turnaround.Helfand was a corporate executive with Knight Ridder, Inc as Director of Sales Training & Development for 8 years before moving to New England.
A past national speaker at newspaper symposiums, Helfand
was awarded honorariums at the American Press Institute
and at the Columbia School of Journalism
.He attended Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Virginia, Barry University and Christopher Newport College where he studied theater, education, and business management.He is a graduate of the Cox Enterprises, Inc 2006 General Management Leadership Program.
Woody resides in Oldsmar, Florida with his
wife, Kathy, and two sons Nicholas and Brandon.He
also has two adult daughters, Susan and Sarah, who both reside in Pennsylvania.He serves on the Guardian Angels Catholic School Board of Directors, The Saint Ignatius Finance Council, and leads the Guardian Angels strategic advancement committee.Primarily family focused, he is also a golfer, an avid reader, and an exercise enthusiast.
