But today, a federal employee union representing physicians and other health care providers working in the hospital are calling for the resignation of VA Medical Center Medical Director Linda Watson.
In their lawsuit, the radiologists testified that they discovered 52 cases of failure to diagnose significant disease that had been missed in analyzing tests. VA lawyers disputed those claims in court. The union claims "medical providers are viewed as objects to be manipulated to achieve performance targets by any means necessary. Watson declined comment, but a spokesman said the Jackson VA "is one of the top VA health care facilities in the nation."
