Linda Bergholz LINDA BERGHOLZ By the time Linda graduated Felicity-Franklin High School in 1974, she was already an accomplished choral accompanist and soloist, piano and flute instructor, wedding accompanist, pianist for a gospel group (The Alliance, a youth band), and church pianist. After instruction with Naomi Stone and Doris Sargent, Linda attended the University of Cincinnati, studying with Powell Grant at College Conservatory of Music and earning both a B.A. in Literature and a Writing Certificate in Journalism. Upon graduation, Linda taught for the Wurlitzer Piano and Organ Company, followed by Baldwin Piano and Organ. In 1982, she, along with partner and friend Lenore Wilkinson, founded Junior Music Experience (JME), a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering piano student education. Upon the birth of her son, Andrew, Linda created a home-based studio. In 1985, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and taught at Summerfield Academy. When she returned to Cincinnati in 1988, Linda re-established her home studio, as well as resuming her career as a church pianist for Loveland United Methodist Church. Her daughter, Katie, was born in 1989, and Linda continued as Director of JME, taught preschool music at Indian Hill Church, and played keyboard and flute for the Heritage Trio. In 2003, Linda added to her teaching practice a position at Leaves of Learning (LOL), a home-school based venue of enrichment classes for home-school students. She recognized the need for quality instruction based on the individual student, and the need for a music academy in the Loveland area. After several years of research and planning, in June 2007, Linda and Aaron O'Keefe formed a corporation, Loveland Music Academy, Inc. (LMA). Linda currently teaches nearly 70 students at LMA and LOL, continues as Executive Director of JME, and is a member-at-large of the Loveland Arts Council. "My two daughters and I have been taking piano lessons from Linda and are really enjoying it. From the start, Linda made us feel welcome in her studio, and she has tried to understand us as individuals. Linda's extensive teaching experience, along with her ability to connect with her students, helps her to tailor a music curriculum (around basic requirements like technique, theory, and music appreciation) for each of us that maximizes our progress. She is professional, demanding, and warm. In addition, Linda plays the piano beautifully and can sight-read difficult pieces amazing well. Of course we have to practice regularly, and some required assignments are more work, but Linda keeps it fun and inspires her students to succeed. - Amy Schroeder "The results I have seen from the Loveland Music Academy are more than impressive and enjoyable to just the eyes and ears. The students get much more than just music in their education. They learn history of music, the science of music and much more. Linda Bergholz has taught my daughter since age 6. I have been a loyal and happy parent of one of her graduated students. My daughter is now majoring at Shenandoah University Va. in a four year degree of piano accompaniment musical theater group. She is an amazing musician, being the first freshman to accompany performances like, "It's a Grand Night for Singing", the Senior Ensemble, and "Cabaret". She is currently traveling with the University to perform every other Friday. Linda has a gift in recognizing a student's musical interests and feeding them individually the lessons that keep their attention and teaches them before they even realize it. I have a 12 year old son that has been taking piano lessons with Linda for 3 years and is now learning the bass guitar from the academy as well. He is excelling so quickly and has become a very rounded pianist with a flair for jazz and blues. I have a hard time keeping his attention but Linda inspires a motivation in him I cannot. I have recommended many of my friends to Linda Bergholz and every one of the families are still with her, and now they are recommending Linda and the academy as well. "Linda has taught all my children piano or flute. I love taking lessons with you, Linda, because you are willing to listen to the everyday trivial dramas of Loveland Middle School. -Sarah B.

Linda Bergholz
Linda has been a piano and flute teacher for 30 years. Managing partner of the Loveland Music Academy, she has 70 private students. This is her fifth sixth year at Leaves of Learning at Grailville. A graduate University of Cincinnati in 1978--piano studies at CCM; B. A. in English/Journalism. Co-founder and Executive Director of Junior Music Experience, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging private piano studies involving 1400 students, 100 teachers, and 10 locations twice yearly throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, Linda is the former Staff pianist and choral accompanist for both the Loveland United Methodist Church and the Felicity United Methodist church (and continues to fill in as a substitute andparticipates in the Christmas and Easter cantatas as principal pianist at LUMC). Former teaching positions include Wurlitzer, Baldwin and the Beechmont Music Studios in Cincinnati, before establishing a private teaching practice in Loveland in 1983. From 1985 - 1988, she taught at Summerfield Piano Academy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon returning to Cincinnati, Linda established a teaching studio in her home in Loveland in 1988. Her focus on teaching is for the musical enjoyment of the student. Piano and flute "lessons" make it sound like WORK! While working hard is an important element of learning to play the piano, it can certainly be fun going through the process. She wants her students to be excited about playing and she spends a great deal of time attempting to find interesting ways to challenge and motivate them. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student, so they can address the strengths and weaknesses of the individual. And, as Managing Partner of LMA, she is able to not only teach students privately, but can direct them to other types of music education, offering guitar, bass, keyboards, voice, acting, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, harp, music theory and improvisation.
