Information will be presented in the following areas: Early brain development and the impact of the environment and early experiences; The impact of stress on the brain, along with the role of the limbic system in managing stress and maintaining equilibrium in the body; Brain plasticity and its implications for learning and instruction.

Linda Alsop is the Director of Deafblind Programs at the SKI-HI Institute at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She has been a classroom teacher of hearing impaired students, and students with disabilities. She has worked directly with children and youth who are deaf-blind and their families since 1989, in both early intervention and educational settings. She has developed numerous training curriculum and multimedia materials that are being used by families, professionals and paraprofessionals. Currently, Ms. Alsop directs the online Utah State University Program of Studies in Deafblindness and the online USU/Hadley Program of Studies in Blindness. She also acts as a national consultant in deaf-blindness and is actively involved in national efforts related to intervener practices in the United States.
