Their millionaire backer Les Scadding
has backed the move in which the club's board has stood down.
June 27 - Newport County Supporters Trust has confirmed it is in talks with owner Les Scadding about taking over the club.
The Trust hopes to be in charge when Newport's new season starts at Cambridge on Saturday, 8 August.
"We greatly appreciate Les'
backing for the Trust and hope to work with him to ensure we continue to build upon his
already significant contribution to both the Club and City," the Trust said in a statement.
Major shareholder Scadding is willing to sell his
shares at a reduced price as the 59-year-old wants to move to his
holiday home in Barbados on a more permanent basis.
June 21 - Newport County director Howard Greenhaf has issued an open invitation to investors to come forward now that Les Scadding has pulled out including Acorn Recruitment's Matt Southall. .Greenhaf said Newport would have to find other methods of plugging financial shortfalls, insisting County fans had no reason to fear for the future.

June 18 - In another blow to Newport County pre-season plans Chairman Les Scadding has announced he is stepping down with immediate effect.
Scadding, who won a £45m EuroMillions jackpot with his ex-wife in 2009, has spent about £1.25m on Newport since becoming chairman in August 2012.
But the 58-year-old said in February he
would stop bankrolling the club in the long term.
