Rev. LeRoy Gardner, Sr. Rev. LeRoy Gardner, Sr. Rev. LeRoy Gardner, Sr. went home to God on June 3, 2011 at age 86. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 25, 1924 to multi-racial parents. He grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduated Bethel College as the first African American student, married Katherine Darling in 1946 and had three children. He founded the North Central Baptist Church in St. Paul, MN in 1957 and served as pastor for 40 years. In 1997 he moved to Carmichael, CA and founded Evangel Ministries. He and his wife Kay relocated to Santa Barbara in 2005 to live near their daughter. Rev. Gardner was a dynamic speaker and author. He was compassionately dedicated to racial tolerance and the need for spiritual, moral and economic leadership in America and the African American community.
