MILWAUKEE (March 17, 2011) - Leona Knobloch-Nelson, Chair of Mount Mary College's Interior Design Department and tenured associate professor, has been named a "Forty Under 40 award recipient from The Business Journal serving greater Milwaukee.
The award recognizes "young business executives making a difference in our community.
was selected from more than 230 nominees under the age of 40 who work in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha or Walworth counties.
Knobloch-Nelson joined Mount Mary in 2002.
strives to instill Mount Mary's
mission of leadership, integrity and social justice in her
students and curriculum.
Most recently Knobloch-Nelson's
interior design class partnered with Lissy's Place
, a Milwaukee-based woman's homeless shelter, to revitalize both the interior of the shelter as well as the spirits of its residents.
In addition to her
teaching responsibilities, she
students as the College's advisor to the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Interior Design Association
also practices in the industry through her
company, Knobloch Nelson Architects LLC
, which she
started in 2004.
Knobloch-Nelson received her Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Masters of Architecture from University of Wisconsin (UW - M) School of Architecture & Urban Planning.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, MI.
