In 1976, Mrs. Strangeway went to work at J.C. Penny's in Rice Lake and worked there until enrolling at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake in 1981.She earned certification as a medical transcriber and was a transcriber in the LMC radiology department for several years.Mrs. Strangeway later bought and sold antiques and then started Portals to the Past antique store, which she operated until retiring in 2004.She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a former member of the Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, canning and watching Star-Trek on television.She is survived by her husband, Leon; two sons, Robert of Waukesha and William of Franklin; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mafalda Woolsey of Cumberland and Sylvia Miller of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and two brothers, Ambrose of Superior and George of White Bear Lake, Minn.Mrs. Strangeway's son Richard died in 1961.
