Leon was hired by the CHL in June of 2011 after spending the last eight years in the NHL. The Toronto native worked as a linesman in the NHL for 1,987 regular season games and 200 Stanley Cup playoff games. In addition, Stickle worked six Stanley Cup Finals games and four NHL All-Star Games (1975, 1978, 1983, 1997). He served previously in the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) beginning in 1997 and continued in the hockey operations department until joining the NHL as the Supervisor of Officials in 2003.

NEW YORK (CP) - Leon Stickle, who worked as an NHL linesmen for 27 years, has returned to the league as a supervisor of officials.
Stickle, 55, leaves his post as director of hockey operations for the Central Hockey League."We are excited to have Leon back in the NHL," said Andy Van Hellemond, the league's director of officiating.
Stickle spent the last five years in executive positions in the CHL and the Western Professional Hockey League.

July 18, 2003 - The Central Hockey League has today announced that Leon Stickle, the Director of Hockey Operations for the CHL, has accepted a position with the National Hockey League as a Supervisor of Officials.During Stickle's five years with the Central and Western Professional Hockey Leagues, he was responsible for overseeing all areas of the League's officiating program.During his tenure, the CHL developed and promoted many members of the officiating staff to the American Hockey League and one to the National Hockey League.

"I am excited about the opportunity to be working once again in the National Hockey League," Stickle said."My time spent in the CHL and WPHL was a tremendous experience, and has prepared me well for my new role with the NHL.I look forward to this new challenge, as well as my continued relationship with the Central Hockey League and their officiating staff."
Stickle had a distinguished career on the ice, including 27 seasons as a Linesman in the NHL before moving into the CHL front office.CHL President Brad Treliving congratulated Stickle on his advancement to the National Hockey League.
"We want to thank Leon for his dedicated service over the past five seasons of play", said Treliving.
"We are excited to have Leon back in the National Hockey League," added Andy Van Hellemond, NHL Director of Officiating.

Noted celebrity for the evening is Leon Stickle , a retired NHL linesman and longtime resident of Mount Forest.

Throughout his distinguished career , Stickle worked eight NHL Stanley Cup finals , four NHL allstar games as well as two Canada Cups.He was Supervisor of Officials in 1998 and was named Director of Officiating last year.
Stickle hosted a celebrity golf tournament for ten years for Ontario Special Olympics , and in 1989 was inducted into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame.
