Dr Leon Schlamm
Dr Leon Schlamm is lecturer in Religious Studies at the University of Kent at Canterbury and director of its MA programme in the study of mysticism and religious experience.
has published many articles in scholarly journals on the depth-psychologist, C.G. Jung, on the phenomenologist of religion, Rudolf Otto, and on the transpersonal psychologist, Ken Wilber.
is currently working on a monograph,
Drawing upon Jung's writings on active imagination as well as his
account of his
own confrontation with the unconscious, Dr Schlamm
will examine the nature of his
visionary spirituality, focusing on the dynamism and spontaneity of initiatory, numinous, archetypal images, and their relationship to the centre of consciousness, the ego.
will also demonstrate how much Jung's clinical practice and psychological model of individuation have been influenced by shamanism, introducing the themes of death and rebirth, and the wounded healer.
