Algoma Music Camp president Leo Gartshore, son of camp founder Ed Gartshore, surveys the St. Joseph Township facilityAMC president Leo Gartshore said he would like to see a filmmaking camp run this year - even with a small number of students. "It's a learning as we go process," he said in a recent interview. Waiting in the wings for 2009: a jazz camp. A goal of camp directors is to either rent or partner with other arts organizations so that the facility is used for 12 weeks each summer, not just for the duration of the camp. The facility is subsequently rented to other arts organizations that conform to the camp vision and goals, Gartshore said."This will go a long way toward spreading the fixed costs of ownership over a bigger base and start to generate capital for expansion and improvement," Gartshore added.
