Also following last night's meeting, former City Clerk and Welfare Commissioner Leo R. Bernier, who was elected Merrimack County Treasurer in 2012, has filed to challenge School Committeeman John Avard in Ward 10.
Bernier, who as rumored to be living in the basement of State Senator Lou D'Allesandro's house and expected to run for Welfare Commissioner, listed his address as 180 Woodbury Street, the Carisbrooke Apartment Complex.

Leo R. Bernier Announces Candidacy
Leo R. Bernier, of 106 Cross Brook Road, Loudon, NH, is seeking a second term as your County Commissioner. Leo R. Bernier, 58, is the current County Commissioner and former Merrimack County Treasurer. Commissioner Bernier is a native of New Hampshire, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and was the long term City Clerk for the City of Manchester. During his career in the City Clerks Office, he undertook numerous reforms to improve the efficiency, expand consumer protection and facilitate public information. He is active with the Loudon Lions Club, Salvation Army, Board Director of the Members First Credit Union and an active volunteer for the Palace Theatre.

In the County Commission District 2 race, current county treasurer and former longtime Manchester City Clerk Leo R. Bernier of Loudon, a Democrat, took on incumbent Republican Bronwyn Asplund-Walsh of Franklin.
