Roseau, Dominica (TDN) -- Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton has called on members of the Dominican public to boycott two independence events in protest over the unconstitutional election of Charles Savarin as president of Dominica.
Linton called for the boycott of the National Youth Rally and the military parade scheduled for November 3, 2013. According to Linton, the UWP "is calling for the boycott of the two independence events to protest the unconstitutional appointment of Charles Savarin as president of the Commonwealth of Dominica." In calling for the support of the public, Linton noted that it was important to send a strong message to the Skerrit administration that the public would not stand for his continued dismissal of the country's constitution. At issue is the manner in which the appointment was done without the required consultation with the opposition and the use of armed police to fortify the building where the swearing in ceremony was held. Linton has repeatedly referred to the appointment as being by 'gunpoint' and called on Dominicans to simply ignore Savarin in the position of president. In addition, Linton has described Savarin as the most divisive figure in the history of Dominican politics. He points to Savarin's record of shutting down the country for 47 days in 1979 and for encouraging the mob to stone and destroy the properties of innocent government supporters. More recently, he pointed to Savarin's call for a boycott of a local supermarket Brizee Mart, which resulted in the closure of that establishment and the loss of close to 80 jobs.
Lennox Linton gets the 'blue' light
Lennox Linton has been recommended to replace Edison James as MP for Marigot Lennox Linton The Nominations Committee of of the United Workers Party (UWP), has voted overwhelmingly for journalist and radio talk show host, Lennox Linton, as the candidate for the position of political leader at the party's delegates conference in September. According to party officials, 15 out of the 17 constituency associations which attended the meeting, voted in favour of Linton while Ronnie Isidore and Claudius Sanford each received one vote. The Roseau Central constituency association, while publicly supporting Lennox Linton for political leader, had announced that they would be nominating Isaac for the position of deputy political leader. Lennox Linton is UWP's new political leader;Sanford is deputy I am sure those people that are saying Lennox does not smile are worse than him. With no degree, no dimple on his face, Linton is the best thing that could happen to Dominica in a long time. Linton have more in common with Maduro than Skerro Linton has more in common with President Maduro than Skeritt. Lennox Linton will win his seat but he will not be able to bring the country together. Lennox gonna run to the Rocks for help but there will be no one. rom the unborn to the Pope this guy(Lennox)has attacked. ow he trying to play nice boy like he has done no wrong. Lennox will surely knock him out like Tyson on that one. And for those who feel that Lennox is Dominica's Obama, get real. Lennox could never put his feet in Obama' shoes. Don't make any excuses for Lennox who had no desire to further his education. It is also quite evident that with LINTON at the helm of the party this has provided a greater level of energy amongst its support base but still a far cry from the spectacular advent of EDDISON JAMES of FEAR NO MORE fame. I can also assure you that none of the current challengers for the post of party leader would not have generated the level of energy as Lennox has created. If UWP wants to carry across votes one wonders if Lennox is the best choice as front man I LOVE LINTON AND WILL, TOGETHER WITH MY FAMILY GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Nobody wants Lennox as PM. I believe Linton will give Dominica a face lift which is what we need. So in truth all of them need to upgrade you hear, including Lennox himself. Yes Lennox needs to step it up. The critics of Mr. Lennox Linton cannot prevent the inevitable. When Mr.Linton gets into Parliament, it will never be the same again. The caliber of debate Mr. Linton is going to bring to the house, the Labor Government must upgrade their stile in all categories of debate or the people of Dominica especially the young students will judge them harshly. I am a young independent,Honest and Hardworking Woman and i truly believe you should be honest in everything you do in life, thats why i will be voting for Mr. Linton. Bring on someone else please UWP. not Linton. I believe that Linton is the best man for the job at this point. What qualifies Lennox as the "best man for the job"? Please don't respond by saying honesty and integrity ... these are just soundbites. When you say he is honest, etc. please provide specifics on how he has demonstrated those qualities. Lennox loves him more than you since he is pointing to him morning, noon and night where he is dead wrong, what he is doing wrong, and what he needs to stop. THAT'S WHY I LOVE HIM (Lennox) so much. I have never voted and will never get a chance to vote because i live out of state ...but if i had to, i'd definitely not vote for Lennox, nor would i vote for Skerrit. I wish here was some way to identify you, this is one of the most powerful comments read on here about the situation, the question of the chinese is a great question, I think Mr. Linton should begin aqnswering those questions They are the ones who are affecting your fate presently and not Linton of any other hopefulls who may or may not ever see the seat of office Lennox is the man for Skerrit n those cabalist!! Firstly, please note that in comparison to Skerrit and Alvin Bernard, Isaac and Linton were not persuaded and or motivated by financial infusions to lend themselves to their political party of choice. In my opinion if Mr.Skerit could lead Dominica ,Mr.Linton also has the ability and potential ,along with united group of women and men to lead Dominica forward.God bless Dominica!!! The whole thing about Lennox Linton is that he likes giving blows but he can't take blows. e takes interest and pleasure talking about people when they talk about him he takes offense. hen you cannot take blows don't give blows,Lennox. It's only blows on Lennox Skin, and that has been going on for years . Lennox has been whipped, beaten and bruised, but he continues to come at them. Issues of importance to Dominica's advancement has been totally forgotten by you and the cabal, its just blows on Lennox. LINTON IS COMING AND TRUST ME HE HAS PEOPLE WITH HIM. LOVE YOU LENNOX! Lennox and everyone would like evidence based issues thrown at him .. Lennox`s work has always been evidenced and this MUDT be what guides us. As I said earlier on, it is NOT about LENNOX, but Dominica, lets stay focus...... Lennox for PM. Linton needs to get him a colleague degree to keep up with all the The Doctodrate candidates who have politician ambitions in the UWP camp. I would suggest that Linton be employed by the UWP and be the so called investigative journalist and progpagandrist he is and leave the political areana for those who are able.

Dominica prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit is being asked by the Leader of the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton to explain to the public the source of more than EC $ 2.6 million in spending made on his behalf by his attorney Stephen Isidore. Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton is calling on the Christian Council to intervene in order to stop the Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) from wrongly attributing statements to him.
Recently the DLP, UWP and the media were invited to sign an electoral code of conduct with the Christian Council and the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches. The political parties pledged to - among other things - avoid character assassination, half truths and misrepresentations. "I am asking the Christian Council to intervene and to ask Mr [Roosevelt] Skerrit to stop saying what I have not said. When I quote Mr Skerrit I quote him correctly…" Linton said, adding that he has led a campaign based on facts. Linton added that the DLP has been on a steady campaign to bash the UWP since the Electoral Code of Conduct was signed. "Since the signing of the code all they, the Labour Party has done is to bash United Workers Party candidates in violation of the Code of Conduct. And we are waiting to hear what the Christian Council has to say about that….what we are hearing is not encouraging…The Christian Council knows who is driving mepuis, hate and prejudice in Dominica. They know the platform from which they are hearing all of the foolishness, all of the nonsense, all the demonization and denigration…" Linton said. In what amounts to blatant disrespect for women and vicious character assassination, Skerrit was caught on tape making unwholesome statements against UWP St Joseph candidate, Monell Williams. Skerrit said, "If I had a daughter, Ladies and Gentlemen, ….I would definitely not wish for my daughter to be a Monelle Williams....because I might end up short of a grandchild!" Linton called on the Christian Council, to find the courage, the commitment and the Christ like fortitude to speak openly about those who are violating the Electoral Code of Conduct. But Linton pointed out that Skerrit has been repeatedly bashing UWP candidates since the signing of the Code of Conduct, starting from the night the document was signed. He said despite this knowledge, the Council continues to refer to the violations as though they are coming from politicians from both sides. "But we are not involved in that," Linton stated categorically. "Mr Skerrit has to stop saying what I have not said…when is that going to end? Mr Skerrit can just get up in the morning and say….Lennox is going to stop this and stop that," Linton remarked. Noting that Skerrit claimed that Linton planned to bring a halt to assistance to members of the public if elected Prime Minister, the UWP Leader explained that what he has actually said was that the practice of a prime minister using the public purse to hand out political favors will stop. Linton said he believes Skerrit wants people to be scared of the UWP and to think that the party does not care about them. He also remarked on the fact that Skerrit refused to attend the signing of the code of conduct, choosing instead to send Amrbose George. Linton said he considers George disreputable since he had found himself involved in a Nigerian scam and left Dominica with a convicted money launderer to go the US to look for a bank which does not exist. Linton said these are facts that cannot be challenged.
