is one of those rare Bay area residents: a Tampa native.The East Lake High School grad anchored the weekend edition of The 7:00 News from 2002 until taking over the weekend morning anchor chair in January of 2005.

broadcasting career has taken her
from Florida, to South Carolina, to Michigan and back again.After earning her B.A. in broadcast journalism from the University of Central Florida, Leigh joined the reporting staff of WKMG-TV in Orlando.From there, she moved on to become weekend anchor at WCSC-TV in Charleston, SC, then main anchor at WEYI-TV in Flint, MI before coming home to work for Bay News 9. is a huge animal lover and does the majority of her
charity work at local animal shelters including the Humane Society of Tampa Bay
, the SPCA of Tampa Bay, the Humane Society of Pinellas
, and others throughout our seven county area.She
husband have their hands full with five rescue cats and a dog.
While at WCSC Leigh won an Associated Press award for investigative reporting.She
earned another AP award at WEYI for best hard news coverage.And, at Bay News 9 she's
part of the news team that won another AP for best newscast.
