Former Bear Harrington, wife killed in car wreck, 20 Jan 2006 [cached]
Former Baylor football player and assistant coach Lee Harrington and his wife, Elaine, were killed in a two-car accident Thursday morning in Williamson County.
Lee Harrington, 69, was taken to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, where he was pronounced dead at 12:46 p.m.Both Harringtons were wearing seat belts.
An all-state football player at Waco High, Harrington was a three-year letterman at Baylor in football and baseball, playing on the 1957 Sugar Bowl team.
He coached the Baylor offensive line (1968-71) and also coached at Richfield High School in Waco in the 1970s before getting into school administration.
Harrington was an assistant principal at Midway High School and then principal at Midway Middle School before retiring in the late 1990s.
