This letter is in response to the letter written by Dr. Lawrence J. OShea, executive director of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit, to the Delco Times, published on April 18, related to the proposed expansion of the Aston Technical School.
I too believe it is time to set the record straight and separate the spin from the facts.
is attempting to make it appear as though those of us in the neighborhoods surrounding the Aston Technical School
are attempting to deprive students of an education by our opposition to the proposed expansion.
announced at this meeting that construction was scheduled to begin in June 2014.
The pamphlet mentions that the DCIU
has welcomed public scrutiny.
Interesting that the public scrutiny was welcomed after the start of construction had already been scheduled.
On the Live from the Newsroom program that was hosted by Delco Times Editor Phil Heron, Dr. OShea announced that there would be an increase of 142 staff members at the school.
At the February 2014 meeting Dr. OShea
estimated that there was approximately one incident per month.
I would like to suggest to Dr. OShea
that if he
is attempting to have us get on board with this plan, insulting us is not the best way to accomplish it.
