Lawrence Green is fluent in many guitar styles including classical, rock, jazz and country. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1954, Mr. Green grew up in the Maryland/Washington, D.C. suburbs playing in rock and blues bands and also studying classical guitar. As a student, he studied with Jonathan Jacobs in Maryland, Loren Pomeroy and David Rogers at Brigham Young University and Frank Koonce at Arizona State University. Mr. Green manages to keep all the guitar styles going: his band, Jerseystreet, plays at local and regional venues in the Western United States.
Lawrence Green is a member of the guitar faculty in the School of Music at Brigham Young University and teaches over 700 students a year in classes and private lessons. He is the author of several publications including Lawrence Green's Great Big Guitar Method. He performs as classical guitar soloist throughout the Utah/Intermountain area at such venues as the Temple Square Concert Series. Mr. Green has also performed with the Utah Symphony, Utah Valley and American Fork Symphonies, Tacoma Youth Symphony, Utah Baroque Ensemble and is in demand as a chamber player. Mr. Green has also given solo recitals in places such as France, Belgium, Mexico, Spain and Italy.

Tantara records recently released the CD "Kingsfold," featuring BYU guitar professor Lawrence Green.
Tantara Records, an enterprise center in the BYU School of Music, recently re-released Professor Lawrence Green's CD, "Kingsfold."
Green, a BYU guitar professor, actually produced the CD a few years ago, but Tantara bought the rights, repackaged it and redesigned the CD to focus more on Green.
The CD is a collaboration of Green and his colleagues, with many of the contributions coming from other BYU faculty.The music is guitar-based, and includes rearrangements of hymns, inspirational songs and newly composed songs.
Green is a guitar instructor in the School of Music.He is fluent in many guitar styles including classical, rock, jazz and country.
"I started out just like a lot of people do with rock and folk," Green said.

"It's hard to imagine a more elegant guitarist than Larry Green," said composer and Associate Academic Vice President K. Newell Dayley."His performances move me deeply."
Green's biggest hope is for people to enjoy this album and the quality of music that it contains.
"My goal is that it's really good music and people need to hear it," Green said."It makes for excellent Sunday listening."
Green said he is confident that this CD will be a joy and inspiration to everyone.
"It's the best CD with guitar music of church stuff out there, period," Green said."Everybody should own it.I'm not just saying that because it's me, but because it's true, because of the composers and the quality of the music."
Green grew up listening to great classical players like Andrès Segovia.He holds a masters' degree in music and performance from Arizona State University and has authored several guitar instructional books.
