Director of Microtechnologies
Laurent Giovangrandi is the Director of Microtechnologies at MalibuIQ.
He works with the MalibuIQ Technical Team and the HRL research teams to identify and assess commercialization opportunities from a technical perspective.
works across MalibuIQ portfolio (Microelectronics, Materials, and Information Science), with a current focus on advanced mixed-signal semiconductor technologies.
Prior to Joining MalibuIQ, Laurent has held the positions of Senior Researcher and Acting Assistant Professor at Stanford University, leading research in the field of biomedical devices, cell-based assays, diagnostic instrumentation, physiologic monitoring and signal processing.
developed novel methods for cardiac electrophysiology, contributed to several advancements in the field of non-invasive physiological monitoring (ballistocardiography and seismocardiography in particular), and has been very active in the transfer of these technologies.
also taught courses in analog electronics, bioinstrumentation, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).
remains involved with Stanford University
through a part-time appointment as Senior Researcher.
has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, one book chapter and seven patents.
In addition, he served as a technical expert in multiple NASA projects, and is a reviewer for a number of leading scientific journals.
He holds a M.S. degree in Microengineering (specialization in microsystem and semiconductor manufacturing) and a Ph.D. degree in applied sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland.
