has 25 years experience in the IT industry.Since 1985, Laurence began work at HP (Hewlet-Packard) as a System Engineer where he provided pre and post-sales technical support to enterprise customers in Australia.Laurence held a District Manager position in the Customer Support Organisation in the late 80s when he had profit goals for the team he led.His
major effort was to ensure success of a customer support/management operation.At the same time Laurence
also engaged in a major organisation evolution planning and execution effort where the business unit (i.e. Application Engineering Organisation) was transitioning from an engineering focus to a more consultative approach operation.He
also acted as the resource manager in providing the right people at the right time based on customer/project requirements on the national basis during the life of a major "office automation" project.
From mid-1991 till early 1996, Laurence
assumed an Asia Pacific responsibility for field development and process improvement efforts in the Customer Support and Professional Services Organisations.He
designed, developed and deployed training/education programmes for engineers, consultants, administration staff and management.Laurence
has gained expertise in process improvement and managing organisational change in different environment and culture settings throughout 14 countries in Asia Pacific.During his assignment in China (March 1996 - December 1998) Laurence was the Operations Manager in the Computer Systems Organisation.
Responsibilities included: business processes development and execution, people/organisation development for sales, marketing, consultants and administrative staff in China and Taiwan.He
has been instrumental in the establishment and institutionalisation of the HP-Way practices in China.His
major contribution is in the areas of business, organisation and people development.Laurence held the General Manager position for HP Education business unit covering Australia and New Zealand since September 1999 for 4 years.
This is a profit centre where Laurence
is responsible for the business development, daily business/people management, solution and project creation, marketing and implementation activities.Laurence also worked as the Workforce Transformation Programme Manager during 2005.
In this role, he
designed a set of relevant local content covering the entire Technology Services group.These include: context, framework, processes, time schedule for implementation of various sub-projects, roles and responsibilities, measures and budget.Laurence retired from HP as of March 2006 and started his own business with operation entities in Australia, China and Hong Kong.
